Hawaiian Massage

Lomi Lomi Nui

Lomi is a Hawaiian word meaning to massage, to press, to squeeze. Doubling the term emphasizes its meaning and accents its uniqueness. In the old times it was performed by Kahunas, ancient guardians of the secret knowledge. They connected the bodywork with sacred dance acted in front of a holy altar therefore Lomi Lomi Nui is considered to be a temple massage. It brings contentment and relaxation to a massaged person. The physical body as well as the surrounding energetic bodies is being massaged during a session. Lomi Lomi practitioners use mainly the palms and forearms but also fingers, knuckles, elbows, knees, feet, even sticks and stones. The dancing and graceful movements of the massage make it also a wonderful and harmonious spectacle.

Kahi Loa

Kahi Loa is another type of Hawaiian bodywork. During session the practitioner uses the seven vital elements. In relation to what is needed in a particular moment vibrations of fire, water, wind, stones, plants, animals and human beings are used. The Master Healers had a deep understanding of the laws of Nature and attributed specific functions and symbolic meanings to each of the components and were deeply convinced that without them the survival of all living things would be impossible.

The massage does not require any oils and a client wears light natural clothing during session. The head to toe massage is divided into seven segments, which are first carried out on the back and then on the front of the body. Each of these segments corresponds with one of the natural elements. The client can also visualize some feelings or elements of life he wants to work upon and strive to achieve final good results of the massage.
